With warm sunshine from March/April till October/November, Sardinia offers miles of unspoilt coastline with delightful harbours and anchorages.  Rod Heikell, perhaps Britain’s top expert on Mediterranean sailing, describes it as his favourite place in the Mediterranean.

Unlike so many places in the Mediterranean there is almost always wind here.  Because of its draconian planning laws the tourist developments in Sardinia are few, and almost always very discreet, and there are still plenty of wild beaches even within an hour's sailing of Alghero.

Round Alghero the standard summer pattern is gentle winds in the morning and a northwesterly 3/4/5 in the afternoon, giving fabulous, sheltered sailing between there and Capo Caccia

In the yachting paradise of the Maddalena archipelago the waters are sheltered and the choice of anchorage almost endless.  And just 2 hours across the straits of Bonifacio is the neighbouring island of Corsica with more glorious anchorages as well as French cuisine in the spectacular ports of Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio.
